General
At Performance Health, we take an integrative and root-cause approach to healthcare.
For real. Not like the people trying to address "root causes" by selling you a detox tea and peptides.
We seek to identify and treat underlying issues like lifestyle, genetics, environment, hormonal imbalances, mental health, nutrient deficiencies, and metabolic conditions.
Most importantly, however - we emphasize the need for people to reduce their risk of developing disease through cautious prescribing, close monitoring and on time or early screening.
We offer routine primary care in addition to "woo woo" medicine. Our expertise exists in our in-depth knowledge of "both sides". We remain transparent, objective and share our honest opinion - allowing you to make the final decision.
Everything comes with risk, even Tylenol. Our job is to inform, not persuade.
• Yes, we will prescribe peptides even if we don't necessarily recommend them due to an absence of adequate research and safety concerns.
• After a through risks, benefits, alternatives and evidence discussion.
• After in-depth consideration of your health, family history and goals as it relates to the proposed mechanism of action of the given peptide.
• Yes, we will prescribe hormones for "optimization" even if we don't necessarily recommend it due to an absence of adequate research and safety concerns.
• After a through risks, benefits, alternatives and evidence discussion.
• After in-depth consideration of your health, family history, symtoms and research specific to the hormone you are interested in optimizing.
• Yes, we will prescribe GLPs for weight loss even if we don't necessarily think it is the best way to lose weight.

• After in-depth consideration of your health, family history, goals and root cause of your struggles with weight.
• Yes, we will often recommend supplements that are evidence-based for your condition - we don't care if you get them from us, Amazon, or your local MLM girly.
• Yes, we will often recommend lifestyle changes that are evidence-based for your condition. We also recommend that anyone working on lifestyle changes have an appointment once per month to stay on track.
• You have access to your provider for questions, not some MA.
• You explain yourself to one person, not the front office staff, then the back office staff then the provider.
• You have weekend and evening access to medical care.
• You have access to mobile medical care.
• You have the option of having a medical advocate who handles all of your scheduling, will attend appointments with you and will advocate on your behalf (see pricing for advocacy).
In addition to the above, we offer concierge level care.
• You have access to your provider for questions.
• Your provider is not in a hurry and not late.
• Your provider gives you the time needed to thoroughly consider your individual history and needs, even look up recent research - and act accordingly.
• Your provider gives you options (as strongly suggested above).

Unfortunately no, we do not. We went through a great deal of expense and time to become contracted only to see that insurance reimbursement can be even less that our affordable cash pay prices - but add the complexity of insurance billing, claims, denials, appeals and payment rejections.
Some real life examples of our insurance experiences:
Insurance reimburses $1.50 for us to draw your blood in house, label it, spin it in a centrifuge and send it to the lab.
Insurance reimburses $8 for an EKG and read, the machine alone was over $2,000.
Insurance reimburses $63 for a patient visit that takes 30 minutes (face to face and coordination time). This is only $3 more than our cash pay price - the extra $3 is not worth the hardship.
To submit a claim we have to manually fill out a form in a separate system with all of your insurance information, personal information etc.
We tried for 3 months to set up EFT payment but could not get a response from either insurer.
We found out that one of the two insurers doesn't offer EFT and only offers a prepaid visa card that charges approximately 3% to balance transfer to the provider's account.
Finally - we offer integrative medicine services. This puts us at a very high risk of audit. What is covered and not covered is very gray. If we were to bill incorrectly we could be forced to go under an audit where insurance could claw back 7 years of payments.
This is just a tiny glimpse of what we have seen without submitting a single actual claim.
We desperately wanted to be able to accommodate patients' insurance plans, but we cannot without sacrificing patient care.
Our requirement to operate as a business is #1: Provide Healthcare That Doesn't Suck.
We cannot do that with insurance.
-We go hardest on preventative medicine - screening, lifestyle, genetic testing, risk mitigation of all kinds. That is our jam.
We treat all conditions that you would normally see a primary care provider for:
• High blood pressure
• High cholesterol
• GERD
• Asthma
• Laceration repair
• Stable and already diagnosed ADHD, depression, anxiety and bi-polar disorder
In addition to this we offer treatment more like you would see from a naturopath for:
• Hormone imbalances (testosterone, thyroid, adrenal, estrogen)
• Metabolic disorders (insulin resistance, weight management, gut health)
• Nutrient deficiencies (IV therapy for hydration, vitamins, amino acids)
• Chronic fatigue, brain fog, and stress-related disorders
• Medical Weight Loss
• Neuromodulators like Botox and Dysport
If you are experiencing symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, weight gain, poor sleep, mood swings, or brain fog, you may benefit from HRT. We offer customized bioidentical hormone therapy for both men and women, ensuring safe and effective treatment based on lab testing and symptom evaluation.
We are transparent, always. Below are contraindications to various types of hormone replacement to save you time and keep you safe.

Honestly there are few IV therapies that are effective for what they say they are effective for. You will see many fancy fun names like "beauty IV" and "longevity IV" and "focus IV" or "fat burner IV" - they are almost all placebo and lack long term safety data.
We prioritize patient autonomy and safety, while we do list a few select IVs and additives on our price list - we are happy to provide you with anything that is considered safe (which is most of the foo foo stuff out there). Everyone is different and maybe something really works for you.
IVs we provide include a proprietary hangover blend (based on the best data), vitamin C, glutathione, NAC, magnesium and Meyer's Cocktails.
Yes, but we take a root-cause approach to weight management. Instead of prescribing semaglutide or other GLP-1 medications as a first-line treatment, we assess metabolic health, hormone balance, nutrition, and lifestyle factors. If appropriate, we may combine medical weight loss therapies with personalized plans for sustainable results.
We strive to make everything easy for our members.
Time and availability should not be a barrier to healthcare. Unfortunately, the most productive people suffer most because they don't have time to go see their primary care provider for an hour long visit (check in, wait, see provider) every three months, and neither do they have time to sit at a lab for an hour on top of that to get their blood drawn.
We get it, we are busy too.
We allow asynchronous, virtual, phone call and in-office (visits via text, secure message etc.) visits for appropriate reasons according to the preference of our patient.
We are available nights, weekends, and holidays - no more PTO just to be seen for a basic preventative visit and no more sitting at urgent care for 3 hours on your day off.
Coverage for lab work, imaging or other testing depends entirely on your insurance plan. We will send lab orders to your preferred in-network lab (such as LabCorp or Sonora Quest), but we cannot guarantee that your insurance will pay for any specific test. You also must make sure when you arrive to the lab that you are at your insurance's preferred lab.
This is especially important for patients undergoing hormone replacement therapy (HRT) or other integrative treatments, as many insurance plans do not cover the related lab work, even if medically necessary.
In cases where medical coverage of testing is questionable, our providers do their best to anticipate this ahead of time and will often provide two options:
- Going to a traditional lab to have labs done where you will pay the contracted rate, or you may get lucky and insurance may cover them.
- Going through a cash pay lab service where labs are generally much less expensive.
Either way, you are responsible for any charges not covered by your plan. We know health insurance sucks and we wish we could do more to make this more transparent.
