Aesthetic Emergencies, Urgencies & Complications

Most aesthetic procedures are safe when performed correctly, but complications can happen — even in the best hands. At Performance Health, we provide rapid recognition and treatment for emergencies and urgent issues, including advanced ultrasound-guided interventions not available in most clinics.

While bruising and swelling are common, some issues can become severe if not recognized and treated quickly. Early action is the key to preventing permanent damage.

Emergencies
-
Stroke or sudden vision change (blindness in one eye)
-
These events are extremely rare but almost always permanent if not treated within minutes
-
Ophthalmologists trained in vision-saving procedures are uncommon — urgent referral is essential
-
Your injector should CALL 911 unless they have an agreement with a local ophthalmologist (in cases of blindness).
-
Urgencies
-
Superficial vessel occlusion (skin blanching, severe pain, mottling)
-
Treatable if caught early with hyaluronidase flooding and supportive care
-
If delayed, can progress to skin necrosis and scarring
-
-
Granulomas or nodules
-
Delayed inflammatory reactions to filler, sometimes autoimmune-related
-
Treated with ultrasound-guided dissolution, steroid injections, or other targeted therapies
-
-
Abscess or infection
-
Requires drainage, antibiotics, and ongoing wound care
-
Untreated infections can result in scarring or spread systemically
-

General Dissolving
Sometimes patients are just not happy with their filler. At Performance Health we offer full facial filler dissolving under ultrasound and since we do not offer filler (aside from nose filler) we will never recommend replacement.

Advanced Interventions
We utilize high-quality, full-sized ultrasound equipment with vascular probes to:
-
Identify the exact location of filler or inflammatory nodules
-
Guide arterial cannulation and hyaluronidase injection for vascular occlusion
-
Differentiate between abscesses, granulomas, and simple swelling for precise treatment
This technology and expertise allow us to deliver evidence-based, targeted complication care that protects both results and long-term safety.
Our Commitment
-
Rapid access and support when complications arise
-
Specialized ultrasound guidance for safer, more effective treatment
-
Collaboration with local providers — we act as the backup for med spas and aesthetic injectors when high-stakes complications occur
